New, Local Competition for 2006

Respecting where we live helps us respect who we are.

A group of committed volunteers have developed a new, local initiative to celebrate the growing spirit of pride in our community. The national Communities in Bloom competition is a wonderful opportunity for Saint Johners to celebrate our unabashed pride and enthusiasm for our home, through beautification and protecting our environment.

Our focus is to encourage beautification projects highlighting the true nature of our colorful and distinct neighbourhoods, our heritage and culture. Evaluation will emphasize efforts to promote inclusiveness, community spirit, and to unveil the true essence of our collective character.

This year, our Goal is to "grow" Saint John in every sense of the word. Every one of us has a part to play to sow the seeds of action for our future. Community-wide success is best achieved when efforts take root in our own backyards.
